Modern Jewellery Boxes
Anyone got any good ideas?
My jewellery is a nightmare of disorganisation which I've been meaning to sort out for ages. But, I've been held back by not having a nice jewellery box and the Husband owes me a Christmas present.
I've tried searching on eBay and Etsy but most vintage ones are too frilly and kitsch or look like they'd be a bit icky and musty inside and make me think of incontinent old ladies wafting cheap perfume.
I'd like it to be simple and with lots of compartments but beyond that have no great preferences. Here's what I like so far, but I'd love to know if you've seen anything else.
This Muji one is great, but too small really.
I would of course not say no to one of these from Smythson's, but at $1,650 (!) they seem a teensy weensy bit overpriced.
I love these modular boxes from Rare Device but even these seem pricey once you've bought a couple together with the inserts.
Or else there's these ones from Crate & Barrel
Or this one from Pottery Barn, but they all look a bit Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn respectively (though the Pottery Barn one scores highly in the 'lots of compartments and look, even a cute little travel case' department).
And then I'm trying to decide whether these mirrored ones from Marks & Spencers are worth the trouble of being shipped from the UK.
Finally this white lacquer box from Conran is almost perfect AND it's on sale, but the compartments don't look very practical.
Any more ideas? I am in a dither here. (There was a great discussion of this topic over on Apartment Therapy, but it was some time ago and most of the links are out of date).
Please let me know what you decide on. I'm in need of a jewelry box too.

oooh.... love those mirrored ones from M&S. I have that exact Pottery Barn one, got it as a Xmas gift in 07 and I really do love it...particularly because of all of the compartments. I use the travel case every time I travel too.

Oh that's good to know about the Pottery Barn one as I'm currently dithering between that one and the Conran one - but I think the little compartments and the travel case are winning...is the Pottery Barn one nice and plain from the outside?

If you like that blue one above, maybe this one from Red Envelope is a reasonable facsimile?http://gifts.redenvelope.com/jewelryboxes/iceblueleatherjewelrycase-24697599?viewpos=8&trackingpgroup=rjbox&ref=REDSRCHgoogkwd_jewelry+box_b&prid=SRCHL&catid=rjbox They have some other styles that hold more, which I like. I have more necklaces than anything else, and they tend to be on the chunky side, no delicate strings of diamonds for me :)

Thanks Maggi! I hadn't thought to look at Red Envelope. That one's lovely, but I think too small. (I too don't many delicate strings of diamonds) However, I do like this one...

Yes, I think that's the one I need as well - I like the swing-out necklace holder behind the mirror.
This one made me think of the Marks & Spencer boxes you listed in your original post, but not as cute (I love the cherry blossom box!) http://www.zgalerie.com/pc-2544-20-mirrored-jewelry-box.aspx

I have a black Victorian "travelling" one. I say "travelling" because whilst it was obviously designed for it - with a carry handle and a lock - it's a decent size - three trays, the bottom and middle tray are quartered and the top tray has a ring holder down each side (I use for stud earring), some smaller divisions both square and a long one, and a fabulous pendant shape space right in the middle.
It came from an antiques market in Canterbury when I was a teenager - bought by my father for me as a present. I think about £40. And I love it. Can't imagine my dressing table without it.

Yeah, I think that $1650 is a little much to spend on a jewelry box, and I don't even think it is that much cuter than the rest! I really like Pottery Barn one though.

Help Please! - Can anyone help me find the jewellery box from Marks and Spencers that is on the left in the images above? I believe it was called cherry wood design or something like that?
Really appreciate it if anyone knows where I can buy one!
Thanks

My friend had this really awesome jewelry box once. I wish I knew exactly how to explain it, though...
